Are you a young carer?

Young carers are young people who help look after a member of the family who is sick, disabled or who has mental health problems.

If you are a young carer there is help available for you:

Financial help

If you are aged 16 or over and are not in full-time education (more than 21 hours a week) you may be eligible for Carer’s Allowance. For more details visit the DirectGov website.

Local organisations who can help

If you live in the Cannock Chase, East Staffordshire, Lichfield, South Staffordshire, Stafford or Tamworth areas you can contact Carers Association Southern Staffordshire  (CASS) on 01785 606675.

If you live in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle or Moorlands you should contact North Staffordshire Carers Association on 01782 834 836 (answerphone out-of-hours).
