Caring for others

Are you one of the many young people who looks after one or both of your parents or another family member that you live with? Maybe it’s because of illnes, disability or old age, or maybe your loved one has a problem with drink or drugs…

Although it can feel good to take care of someone - it can also be a lot for you to deal with. You might be finding that the demands on your spare time are making it hard for you – or you might be finding it difficult to keep up with school or college work. There might be things about your situation that worry you or stress you out too... If you’re a young carer, then there’s support available for you.

Your Connexions Personal Adviser can give you information, advice and practical help with all sorts of things that might be affecting you in your life - or we can put you in touch with the right specialist person who is able to help you. Just call in and see us at school, college or your nearest Connexions Centre. There are also specialist support services (local and national) who can help young carers like you.
