Young Parents

If you're a parent and you're under 20 and you want to learn, there's money available to help you.

Care to learn helps with the cost of childcare and related travel while you learn. This can be up to £160 a week for each child.

To qualify, you must:

  • be under 20 years old
  • be enrolled on a learning or training course at a school, college or a work-based learning provider
  • care for your own child (fathers are eligible if they are the main carer)
  • use a childcare provider registered with Ofsted

You can choose any subject and it is entirely up to you whether you take a course that leads to a qualification or not. Whatever you decide, you can be confident that your child is being safely looked after while you're learning.
